Yesterday, I cranked up the bike and rode down to Charlotte Hall, MD to the ’25th Coming Out Car and Bike Show’ sponsored by the Southern Knights Rod and Custom Car Club. WOW! This show is unbelievable. The number of cars far outnumbered any shows I had been to in the past years.
I’m guesstimating there were between 500 and 750 cars and bikes (way too few bikes in my opinion) and styles to suit everyone. Everything from beautifully restored antiques to street/rat rods, customs and more. I photographed just the vehicles that stood out to me and still ended up with around 200 images. For those of you who did not make this show, do yourself a favor and mark y
our calendar for next year. This show is definitely worth the drive. You can see all the images from yesterday here.
Harry Kraemer posted a photo in the forum of a Pontiac Fiero Trike that he had seen on Flickr. Cool idea. Merge a mid-engine car with a motorcycle front end and you have a winning combination. I did some snooping on the internet to see if I could find some info on this car and actually found a whole slew of these mutants. I prefer the ones where they kept the rear seats intact so as to make the trike a three-seater. Here are some shots I found.
Ran into this beauty while browsing the internet. It’s a 2012 ‘Telsa Roadster 2.5′
0-60mph in 3.7 and it’s all electric. The sedan starts at $50k and is one of the most beautiful cars I’ve seen in a while.
You can read about them both at http://www.teslamotors.com. Don’t get too excited though, the sedan is currently sold out.
Here is a list of other unusual cars, bikes and hybrid vehicles I found.

While browsing the web tonight, I ran across a photographer’s site called American Pride and Passion: A Photographic Celebration of Our American Spirit. The photographer uses a process called ‘light painting’ whereby he takes multiple shots, each one while lighting a different section of the subject. The end product, as you can see above, is simply awe inspiring. Take a few minutes and look through the gallery. It’s well worth your time.
Last week, I photographed the Neelsville Presbyterian Church for my Maryland Mondays project. I found this interesting bit of Germantown history and the church which is a historical landmark.
Over in the area around Rt. 355 a growing number of people of the Presbyterian faith were settling in the early 1800s, and a Presbyterian Church made of logs was built at the intersection of Rt. 355 and Neelsville Church Road in 1845. The present church was built in 1878 and the cemetery behind the church contains the graves of many of the early settlers of Germantown. The Neelsville Presbyterian Church and the Darnestown Presbyterian Church were served by the same minister. So a road was built by local farmers to connect the two churches. This road is Rt. 118 (Germantown Road) [the section of this road from the railroad to Clopper Road is now known as Liberty Mill Road].
Here is an old image of the church and below, my current-day rendition. There is now an addition to the right side of the old build and a newer building to the far right. (left in image)

Day 21 of my 365 project. Woke up this morning to a mess. Just enough snow to be a mess. If it’s gonna snow, then lets get 6″-12″ or more.
And here’s my rottie playing in the snow. I didn’t realize she was going to charge me and missed the focus. I’ll have to get her again later today with a better focused shot.
Some men just need a little more supervision!
I prepped the bike and headed out to Woodsboro, MD this morning, where I would meet up with others to escort the remains of SPC Ronald H. Wildrick, Jr., USA, 30, Blairstown, NJ, who gave all on December 11, 2011. I figured that even though I don’t have any cold weather riding gear, if I layered up, I could handle it. Well, guess what? I got as far as the Hyattstown exit on Interstate 270 and decided that it was just too cold for this old guy. I knew I would never be able to make another 30 plus minutes so I turned back. After getting caught in the rain on Wednesday on the way back from Woodsboro, I decided that I would be pushing my luck and my health to go any further.
Oh well, there’s my Day 13 picture.
